Monument Valley

Monument Valley, a red-sand desert region on the Arizona-Utah border, is known for the towering sandstone buttes of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. The park, frequently a filming location for Western movies, is accessed by the looping, 17-mile Valley Drive. The famous, steeply sloped Mittens buttes can be viewed from the road or from overlooks like John Ford’s Point.

Havasu Waterfalls

Havasu Falls and Havasu Creek get their blue color from the magnesium in the water. As the pools deepen and the calcium carbonate is slowly released from the water, the bluer the water appears as the relative magnesium content increases.

Havasu Falls is known throughout the world and has appeared in numerous magazines and television shows, and is often included in calendars that feature incredible waterfalls or beautiful scenery. Visitors from all over the world make the trip to Havasupai primarily for Havasu Falls.

Day two of Gordon Donovan’s journey to the Okonjima Game Reserve. My final drive at the Okonjima Game Reserve and day in Namibia. Then begins the journey home that will take 29 hours altogether.

The final days of Gordon Donovan’s journey back to Namibia. Leaving Etosha I headed towards the Okonjima Game Reserve, home of the Africat Foundation. Hopefully I would be able hold and feed a baby cheetah.
